In the news, the issues such as androcentric discourse is reproduced, women do not participate in the news as subjects, and when they do they are reflected as the victims of male violence or a sexual object have formed the focal points of those discussions. Under the light of all those discussions, the gender analysis of news in which women are the subjects in the local press of Sivas forms the basic topic of this study, and the study also aims at bringing forward that androcentric discourse which dominates the national media exists in terms of local media too. In this respect, the news of published between 2 and 31 October 2017 in the papers called Sivas İrade, Memleket Sivas and Hadiselerle Hakikat which have been chosen as the sample in which women were used as subjects have been analyzed. Content analysis and critical discourse analysis about representation of woman identity have been made use of in the study. As a result of the analysis, it has been observed that news about women has been given a limited place in the local press of Sivas, the news in which women are subjects are generally about sports or health, many agencies have been used as news source and sexist headlines are used in the news where sexist photos are reflected.
