Submission Guideline
- Articles to be published in the Journal of Social Sciences Electronic Journal (SBedergi) should be in Turkish or English and should be written in Microsoft Office Word.
- The language and expression of the articles to SBedergi must adhere to scientific standards and be clear and comprehensible. For articles written in English, the spelling of words should reference the "Oxford English Dictionary (https://www.oed.com)"; for articles written in Turkish, the spelling of words should reference the "Turkish Language Institution Dictionaries (https://www.sozluk.gov.tr)".
- The articles submitted to the journal are evaluated by the "Editorial Board" to determine whether they are suitable for publication. If deemed suitable, they undergo peer review. The journal adheres to the principles of "Double-Blind Peer Review," and each article is subjected to evaluations by at least two referees.
- All responsibilities related to the submissions sent to the journal for publication belong to the author/authors. Authors may be asked to make certain corrections to the text based on the editorial board and/or referee reports.
- It is the responsibility of the authors to submit the final version of the articles, adhering to the writing rules. The articles will not be published until they are presented in accordance with the specified writing rules.
- The independent evaluation of submitted publications, without revealing the identities of the authors and referees to each other, is essential. For this purpose, authors submitting files to the system must remove their names and institutional affiliations from all parts of the text where they appear throughout the entire manuscript.
- The cover page containing the author/authors' information along with the submitted article should be additionally sent to the address (editor@sbedergi.com). The cover page should include the title of the article, the institutions and titles of the author/authors, their addresses, phone numbers, ORCID, and email addresses. If the article is derived from a thesis or a verbal presentation, an asterisk (*) should be added to the title, and a footnote should indicate the source of the thesis or presentation from which the work is derived (acknowledgments, project support information, etc.).
- The similarity rates detected through plagiarism detection programs such as Turnitin and iThenticate should not exceed 20%. In cases where they exceed this threshold, the article will not be considered for evaluation.
- For all types of articles conducted using qualitative/quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants through techniques such as surveys, interviews, focus group studies, observations, experiments, interviews, etc., "Ethics Committee Approval" is required. The relevant document must be submitted to the journal along with the article. Otherwise, works without proper authorization will not be considered for evaluation.
- Page margins should be set as follows: top margin: 3 cm, left margin: 3 cm, bottom margin: 3 cm, and right margin: 3 cm.
- Throughout the text, the line spacing within paragraphs should be 6 nk before and 6 nk after. There should be one blank line between two paragraphs.
- The title of the study should be written on the first page in Times New Roman, 14-point size (bold), with 1.5 line spacing, and aligned to the left, using all capital letters.
- In order to enhance the impact of the articles nationally and internationally, Abstract information must be included. A Turkish (Özet) and an English (Abstract) version should be written, containing a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 200 words. The Özet/Abstract should be prepared using a font size of 10 points, a line spacing of 1.0, and the Times New Roman font, without using citations within the summary. TAB spacing should not be used in the Özet and Abstract sections.
- There should be Turkish (Anahtar Kelimeler) and English (Key Words) headings. Key words should be written with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 words (excluding proper nouns, only the first letter of the first word should be capitalized).
- The Özet and Abstract headings (aligned left, bold), key words, and text (justified) should be written in Times New Roman, 11-point size.
- Before the Abstract heading, the English title of the article should be presented. It should be written in Times New Roman, uppercase, bold, 12-point size, and aligned to the left.
- The text should be written on A4 paper size, in "Times New Roman" font, 12-point size, with 1.5 line spacing, and justified alignment. Direct quotations should be provided in italics and enclosed in quotation marks. Direct quotations from other sources, if not exceeding three lines or 40 words, should be presented in italics within quotation marks. If they exceed three lines or 40 words, they should be indented one cm from the right and left sides in a separate paragraph, using 9-point italics.
- There should be no paragraph indentation in the text, and footnotes should have a hanging indent of 0.4 cm.
- The length of the article should not exceed 25 pages.
- Main headings and subheadings in the article should be numbered as follows: bold and left-aligned (without indentation) in the format of 1., 1.1., 1.1.1., 1.1.2., 1.1.2.1. The headings "Introduction," "Conclusion," and "References" should not be included in the numbering. All letters of the main headings should be capitalized, while only the initial letters of subheadings should be capitalized. The line spacing for main and subheadings should be 12 pt before and 6 pt after. Level one headings should be in 12-point bold font, while level two and subsequent headings should be in 11-point bold font. A space should be left after the heading numbers.
- Figures, tables, maps, photographs, etc. should not exceed the designated writing area. The captions for visual elements should be written in title case, placed over the visual element in 11-point bold font, with 3 nk spacing before and after the paragraph, single line spacing, and aligned justified. Text within tables and figures should be in Times New Roman font, ranging from 8 to 10 points, and should be single-spaced.Explanations and sources for tables and figures should be placed below the respective table or figure, in 10-point font, with 3 nk spacing before and after the paragraph. Full-page tables and figures can be oriented horizontally. Tables and figures should not extend beyond the paragraph alignment and should not be divided across pages. References/sources for tables and figures, placed underneath them, should follow the in-text reference method in accordance with APA 6.0 format (e.g., Source: Author/Institution Name, publication year, page number).
- Manuscripts submitted to the journal should be prepared in the "APA 6.0" style for referencing and bibliography. In-text citations should be made using the parenthetical method within the text. Various examples are provided below. For more detailed information, please refer to (http://www.tk.org.tr/APA/apa_2.pdf).
- Single-authored publications: (Acehan, 2018, p. 301).
- Two-authored publications (in Turkish articles): (Karaman & Lulacı, 2019, p. 75).
- Three, four, and five-authored publications: (Kesgin, Süleymanoğlu, & Şimşek, 2018, p. 445).[1]
- Articles should be prepared in accordance with writing and punctuation rules. A space should be left after punctuation marks. This should also be observed in referencing according to the APA 6 format. For example, it should be (Demir, 2009, s. 175) rather than (Demir, 2009,s.175). The period should be placed after the parenthesis, not before.
- At the end of the text, under the "References" heading, a comprehensive list of all used and cited sources in the work should be provided. Sources should be listed in alphabetical order according to the author's last name, without distinguishing between their nature (thesis, book, article, report, etc.). The references should be aligned justified, and subsequent lines should have a hanging indent of 1.25 cm from the left margin.

[1] When referring to three, four, and five-authored works, only the last names of all authors are mentioned in the initial in-text citation. For subsequent citations, the last name of the first author followed by "et al." should be used. In English-written articles, when referring to three, four, and five-authored publications, the phrase "et al." should replace the "and others" phrase.
