Abstract

Abstract

Medical tourism, which includes travel activities for treatment and care purposes to countries other than their country of residence, is a concept that emerged from the combination of health and tourism concepts. In recent years, with the increase of travel with medical tourism, it has attracted the attention of countries. For this reason, many developing countries aim to attract medical tourists to their countries by investing in medical tourism. An average of 14-16 million medical tourists travel around the world annually. Women constitute an important part of medical tourism travels. It is known that women travel especially for plastic surgery, IVF treatment, gastric bypass, abortion and childbirth. The aim of this study is to examine the treatments performed by women traveling under medical tourism in the context of the relevant literature and their reasons.
